HCBS Waiver Program in the Washington, D.C.
Supporting Individuals, Empowering Communities
Our Role in the HCBS Waiver Program
We work collaboratively with the Department on Disability Services (DDS) to support individuals through open communication, active listening, and tailored care.
Examples of Our Approach:
- Reflect on Progress: “What have you achieved that makes you proud?”
- Explore New Goals:“What new areas or activities would you like to pursue?”
- Adjust Care Plans: “How can we adapt your care to better meet your needs?”
By fostering a transparent dialogue, we ensure our services align with each individual’s unique aspirations.
Privacy and HIPAA Compliance
Protecting private information is our priority. We utilize a secure electronic records system that:
- HIPAA-compliant with encrypted hosting.
- Includes GPS time-stamping for service verification.
- Provides two-step authentication for all users.
This ensures seamless communication with families, consultants, and other partners while safeguarding sensitive information.
Staff Training and Development
Our Comprehensive Policy Includes:
- Training Phases: Staff must complete Phases 1-3 of DDS training upon hire, with Phase 4 including 10 hours of professional development annually.
- Infection Control: All team members are trained on universal precautions, submit PPD test results, and receive resources on Hepatitis B vaccinations.
- Job Abandonment Protocol: Immediate action is taken to ensure the safety of individuals, including replacing absent staff and reporting incidents promptly.

Our Commitment to Excellence:
- Goal Attainment: We conduct 30-day evaluations and quarterly assessments to monitor care plan progress.
- Incident Reporting: Training and regular audits ensure all incidents are reported and resolved on time.
- Issue Resolution: Daily MCIS dashboard reviews allow us to address DDS-identified issues within 5 days.
